September 2004 NEWSLETTER BY NUMEROLOGIST SALLY FAUBION
Phone: (415) 474-6210; (415) 433-9808
Another six months has passed since my last newsletter. I certainly am inclined to accept the words of the scientist I saw on "60 Minutes" who told Mike Wallace that there is believed to be a force in the center of black holes out in space that is speeding up what we know as time on this planet. (I still don't know what happened to the year 2002!)
The first feature in this newsletter is my numerological analysis of President Bush and Laura Bush, John Kerry and his wife, Theresa, VP Dick Cheney and his wife, Lynne, John Edwards and his wife, Elizabeth. (The wives' charts are very important in this analysis because they usually show more definitive changes than the husband's charts --- like major moves, because wives are, especially in this case, put in positions of subjugating their own lives and careers for the sake of their husband's careers and there is usually a strong reaction in their charts to such a big shift in their living situation.)
The next feature offers yet another way to decipher numbers associated with your life. I will introduce to you the "age digit" number and it's definition. Once you have calculated yours, you may want to ponder its definition, meditate upon it, use it to inspire yourself in some manner, or simply read it as a source of entertainment.
The next feature is an interesting article I found on the internet from the Discovery Channel about the history of Halloween, which you may find to be enlightening and informative, as well as entertaining.
Finally, discounts for gift readings and for my email clients are announced.
NUMEROLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF
PRESIDENT BUSH AND SENATOR KERRY
(AND OTHERS) REGARDING THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS
President George W. and Laura Bush:
President George W. Bush (Birth date July 6, 1946): He has the influence of the 51/6 in for his entire birthday year (7/6/04 to 7/5/05). The 51/6 indicates his having a desire to make things right with his job or on the home front, but having just as powerful a desire to feel a sense of freedom and independence. He also has the 28/1 influence up through November 6 (a few days after the election), which is a number that brings about the unexpected (in relation to things you THINK are going to happen). Pres. Bush also has the Ace of Spades in the challenge position this year. A brief summary of that aspect in his chart is: "It will be a year of many major changes, internal and external. He may have to face the loss of one or more close relationships, or other facets of his life may come to an end, leaving him changed as nothing else could. He could be ending a major chapter in his life. It is the symbol of personal transformation."
Interestingly, Laura Bush (birth date November 4, 1946) has the same numbers in the same positions (the 51/6 and the 28/1). Mrs. Bush certainly is the quintessential politician's wife, even from a cosmic standpoint. Mrs. Bush also has the influence of the 5 of hearts at the time of the election and through December, 2004 and it offers the following: This period could be marked by sudden changes in feelings and a separation from those you love. Trips are possible, and there is also an indication of moving to a new home.
The First Daughters, Jenna and Barbara, (birth dates November 25, 1981) have a number that indicates a feeling of loss, or being bumped out of their comfort zone. Since they are so young, it is very difficult to determine whether this has to do with their college life or their life in general - it could be both.
Vice President Dick and Lynne Cheney
Vice President Cheney (birth date is January 30, 1941) has, in his chart at this time, the 33/6. It has been in for a couple of years and goes through until his next birthday, on January 30, 2005. That is a number that indicates he feels he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. It's also a number that indicates he could have come close to death (which we know occurred) and that it had a profound affect on his he views his life and his future. His chart doesn't show that he has any upsets or moves.
Lynne Cheney's (birth date is August 14, 1941) chart shows that the 5 of Hearts in (like Laura Bush) as her "long range" card this year. That's an indication of a major move of some sort.
Condoleezza Rice (birth date November 14, 1954) , Colen Powell (birth date April 5, 1937), John Ashcroft (birth date May 9, 1942) each have a number in that indicates "a difficult ending." They also each have the 9 of Spades in different positions during their birthday year. That symbol portends "loss of a job, poor health, or a major ending of some component of their lifestyle." Donald Rumsfeld's chart (birth date July 9, 1932) is less definitive. He has the 28/1 in during the elections, which is the number of "expect the unexpected."
Senator John Kerry and Theresa Heinz-Kerry
The 22/4 is the influence John Kerry (birth date December 11, 1943) has in his chart as the elections take place. The 22/4 expresses this: "Travel, advancements, your dreams come true." A "master number" in numerology, it implies a completion and fulfillment. It indicates a tense period in which he must deal with large groups of people, and that his opinions or topics have a good chance of being accepted. For the first four months after Kerry's birthday, he has the 31/4 come in, and that indicates that he will have a bit of a hard time adjusting to people and circumstances, and he will be working like a trooper. He also has the influence of the 46/1 over the next 3 years, starting after his birthday. That's a number that brings success and new opportunities, but also feelings of standing alone with the issues and problems that will face him. That number also indicates that his environment will change in some manner, either he will find himself in new surroundings with new people in his midst, or his old environment will receive a new vibrancy.
Kerry also has the influence of the 3 of Clubs in at the time of the elections. That symbol portends that he may be somewhat worrisome and that some of his long cherished beliefs may be eroding. It generates variety and many new ideas. He also has the 5 of Hearts in a significant position in his chart (like Laura Bush), which means "changes of residence, much travel, and changes in his business location." Directly after his birthday, Kerry has the influence of the Ten of Spades, which always brings success and a positive return for work well done. It involves short trips, writing, speaking, and commuication through various media. It is a very good influence to have if he were to be elected president of the US.
Teresa Heinz-Kerry (birthday October 5, 1938) has some interesting numbers in her chart, as well. She has the influence of the 38/11 throughout her birthday year, until October 4, 2005). The 38/11 is a number of "fame and adulation of the masses." She also has the 8 of Clubs influence through December of 2004. That indicates "a sudden gaining of knowledge or power; an opportunity to speak or to acquire greater education; overcoming obstacles and success involving groups of people." She also has the 5 of Diamonds in a significant position under the card science, which implies that any changes that take place in her life at this time will be favorable for her work and career. It gives her a chance to give greater expression to her values and talent.
Senator John and Elizabeth Edwards
Senator Edward's (birth date June 10, 1953) chart shows his having success this year in whatever it is that he is pursuing. His wife's chart shows a major change that is somewhat difficult for her but ultimately offers her much more than she is able to understand at this time.
YOUR AGE DIGIT NUMBER
Your "age digit" is found by adding together the two numbers that represent your current age. For example, if you are 48, add 4 + 8 = 12, and 1 + 2 = 3. In this case, your "age digit" is 3. Another example, if you are 40, add 4 +0 = 4. In this case, the age digit is 4. You can use this to calculate your Age Digit Number for each new birthday year.
The definitions of the age digit numbers, 1 through 9, follow:
1: Challenge: You must learn to stand on your own and make definitive decisions -- no more vacillating; no more procrastinating. Now is the time to assert yourself and focus on something that will help you to make a positive change.
Advantage: Greater energy, sense of direction, conviction, fortitude, persistence, and ability to see more clearly what is needed to change your life for the better.
2. Challenge: Now is a time to cooperate and compromise. Listen, share, and express yourself in a caring and understanding manner in all your personal and work relationships. It is not a time to lean on others for their support, but to be more supportive and more of a team player.
Advantage: Greater awareness and sensitivity to others; heightened sense of empathy and sympathy for others; a stronger desire to love, and be loved in return.
3. Challenge: Giving yourself permission to let your free spirit soar. Break loose and express yourself as a fun, adventuresome, carefree, and lighthearted individual. Nurture your creative side -- paint, sing, dance, write, frolic, act, run around in the nude (preferably where you won't get arrested), and/or "get down" (like a rapper - am I with the times or what)!
Advantage: A stronger interest and appreciation for the arts; a desire to be creatively expressive, and an unusually fertile mind.
4. Challenge: To apply yourself diligently to work and being more organized. This challenge requires additional effort, determination, and perseverance, which doesn't sound like much fun but the results are usually a much more manageable life and greater peace of mind.
Advantage: More desire to get your act together; spirts of energy that enable you to accomplish more in less time; a fundamental shift in your overall outlook toward your life, with a more common sense or pragmatic overtone.
5. Challenge: This is a vibration that prompts the need to accept and adapt to changes of all kinds, on the home front, at work, and in your personal relationships. It's also a time when you should not misuse your freedom, especially in relation to one or all the temptations - eating, imbibing, sex, slothfulness, and greed.
Advantage: Being more adaptable; becoming more enlightened to what's going on around you, which includes your life as well as the lives of those you love and care for; a desire to make positive changes in your habits.
6: Challenge: To be more responsible, understanding and caring to everyone and everything under your care. To alter your living situation or personal relationships in a manner that is more beneficial to you and everyone involved with you, which includes family members, friends, co-workers and bosses.
Advantage: Having a greater desire to effect a loving and harmonious environment, both at home and in the workplace; a strong motivation to move to a better location for your home or career, or to alter your surroundings in a manner that effects greater peace of mind and personal fulfillment.
7. Challenge: To become more spiritually enlightened; to have greater faith in yourself and a Source beyond you; to develop a greater respect for others, especially those whose presence directly affects your life; to acquire greater esoteric and philosophical understanding and knowledge; to learn to meditate, to practice yoga or participate in other spiritually-oriented and self-help programs.
Advantage: Having a greater desire to enhance your spiritual understanding; possessing a stronger motivation to effect greater peace of mind and harmony within yourself, and being much more introspection, reflective; and analytical.
8. Challenge: To better manage financial affairs by correcting methods that you have implemented that aren't giving you the greatest returns on your hard-earned monney. To be more humble in positions of authority by paying attention to how you handle yourself with others - are you well liked, or do your family members or co-workers have difficulty communicating with you? Bottomline, this challenge calls for you to become more cognizant of your use and misuse of money and/or power.
Advantage: Being more aware of your attitude toward money, power, and prestige; having greater desire and ability to make concrete changes where needed to reflect a more humble use of your power (or money).
9. Challenge: To practice greater compassion, humanitarianism, and understanding for your fellow humans, animals and the earth. To be grateful and thankful for everything in your life that is good and beneficial to you.
Advantage: Possessing a greater sense of compassion and empathy for others; having a greater desire to help the earth, animals, and people in a way that gives you a sense of joy.
WHEN AND WHERE WAS IT FIRST ESTABLISHED?
Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter.
To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities. During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes. When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter.
By A.D. 43, Romans had conquered the majority of Celtic territory. In the course of the four hundred years that they ruled the Celtic lands, two festivals of Roman origin were combined with the traditional Celtic celebration of Samhain. The first was Feralia, a day in late October when the Romans traditionally commemorated the passing of the dead. The second was a day to honor Pomona, the Roman goddess of fruit and trees. The symbol of Pomona is the apple and the incorporation of this celebration into Samhain probably explains the tradition of "bobbing" for apples that is practiced today on Halloween.
By the 800s, the influence of Christianity had spread into Celtic lands. In the seventh century, Pope Boniface IV designated November 1 All Saints' Day, a time to honor saints and martyrs. It is widely believed today that the pope was attempting to replace the Celtic festival of the dead with a related, but church-sanctioned holiday. The celebration was also called All-hallows or All-hallowmas (from Middle English Alholowmesse meaning All Saints' Day) and the night before it, the night of Samhain, began to be called All-hallows Eve and, eventually, Halloween. Even later, in A.D. 1000, the church would make November 2 All Souls' Day, a day to honor the dead. It was celebrated similarly to Samhain, with big bonfires, parades, and dressing up in costumes as saints, angels, and devils. Together, the three celebrations, the eve of All Saints', All Saints', and All Souls', were called Hallowmas.
